About Us
Momma Wipe Your Eyes is a new innovative initiative aimed at improving service delivery to the vulnerable citizens of Ontario Canada. Our organization will provide an array of mental health supports, substance abuse and trauma/grief services to individuals, couples, and families. Our service population includes people of all ages, ethnicities, religions and background with our priority sector of Black, Indigenous, and BIPOC.
Our philosophy of treatment recognizes the totality of the individual in their life situation. This includes the interconnection of multiple dimensions from biomedical to spiritual, as well as external relationships of the individual to the family and larger social groups. We are facing a global mental health crisis and require a multi-disciplinary health/wellness response to combat the problem.
The existing landscape for urgent support is overburdened and unsustainable; with many individuals and families left without access to systems and support. Momma Wipe Your Eyes will fill this void through a multidimensional approach to health, wellness, healing and recovery. These solutions and alternatives will mitigate the current strain and improve access and support while equipping families with the tools to enhance their level of understanding of trauma, grief, loss and addictions; therefore increasing the likelihood of mental health recovery. The first step lies in building awareness and the willingness to change.
Areas of impact
We offer comprehensive psychological and psychiatric services that include individualized assessments, evaluations, diagnoses and medication management for mental health conditions, substance abuse and loss and grief counselling services. We provide treatment through group therapies, peer counselling and one-one programs for domestic violence victims, post-traumatic stress disorders, addictions and drug abuse. A main component of our approach is to teach family members and members of community how to make informed, healthy choices that support physical, mental and emotional well-being while engaging in meaningful daily activities, such as a job, school, and volunteering while supporting a loved one in crisis.
By helping those to make connections to build relationships and social networks that can provide additional support when required. This helps stabilize the in-home and in community support which can provide much need relief by reducing barriers to treatment. This is our long-term sustainable approach that will increase access, improve recovery and reduce strain. It’s a win, win; and a necessary societal response to improve the quality of life for everyone.
Help and Resources
Our intent is to provide the tools and space to help clients frame and identify what they are experiencing, provide support and counselling for those who wish to receive further support. Our promise is to ensuring that no one endures this painful transition alone and that every person regardless of age, sex, ethnicity and religion has equitable access to compassion in their time of need. Through our community ties and existing network, we pool together the resources in the form of gift cards, gift certificates, cash donations, fundraising initiatives and endowments that are directly provided to client and immediate family members. Momma Wipe Your Eyes will propel forward a generation of inclusion, diversity and acceptance of our collective approach to health and wellness.
Why us
Our Center is managed-care friendly; we provide prompt and accurate information as well as good communication. The Center has a shared treatment philosophy. Our services are accessible and cost effective. We are fulfilling a need that is currently underserved, underrepresented and unfamiliar. We work diligently to make meaningful connections that build long-term sustainable partnerships that will propel our vision forward and make our organization a part of Ontario’s landscape, culture and way of life. We treat each client with the dignity, respect and privacy that they deserve one family at a time. We are a diverse population in urgent need of a more diverse model of care, so that everyone has the same access regardless of their demographics or whether they are deeply affected or are in crisis.
Our team has the knowledge and understanding of systemic racism, poverty, oppression and gender based violence which provides a wider lens to provide care than our existing counterparts. With one in five citizens requiring support at least once in their lifetime, Canadians will continue to suffer until systemic barriers to access are lifted. This is our priority and public contribution that will contribute to the betterment of society.
